Misty Yorkshire Moors - A Morning Walk

british foggy weather time

When everything in your life is clouded by the unknown, by fear, doubt, disquiet... know that there is the cool mist of a Yorkshire morning, a squelching dew puddle underfoot, and soft, brown earth beneath the emerald leaves that deck the forest floor.
Know that the clouds will fall gently to the ground and kiss you on their way down.
Know that the trees grow straight and tall, and in housed their boughs are countless tiny lives.
Know that the sun will rise again and the fog will allow you to gaze upon it in its roundness, unhindered by its usual blinding light.
Know that you can fill your lungs with something and what you breathe out will fill the earth also.
That the throbbing nonsense of the world has rhythm and pace and the dizzying hell scape has ebbs and quietnesses.
That you are everything even while you are nothing.

What happened this Spring?

summer london bus
Since Summer is truly underway, I thought I'd do a little round-up of what went on in the world of Owl Girl this Spring, to give you a chance to catch up! All the images are clickable and will take you to other posts! :)
I spent most of my time in London, trying out some cafes such as the Vintage Emporium in Shoreditch, and several Ice Cream parlours around the city. Check out my Top 5 Ice Creams in London if you're in need of some cool and satisfying icy goodness this summer, and if you're a tourist, check out my tips for tourists in London.

I blogged about the bubbles at our wedding, as well as why we had a costume change in the middle. This Sunday it is our one year anniversary, and we're going to Oslo for a minibreak to celebrate. Stay tuned for some epic blog posts about our tiny holiday in Norway - it's going to be amazing.

I've done a couple of 'How-to' posts for you as well, including How to wrap a present for Easter (because eggs are soooooo last year, dahling) and How to make a Strawberry and Basil mojito syrup (your new favourite Summer drink?)

We took a trip to Cambridge to see friends, and gatecrashed a champagne garden party all in one weekend, like true rock-and-rollers.

Finally, I had a life-changing salf-beef sandwich on the South Bank, and received a beautiful dress full of family history from my Grandma.

So, what does the future hold? Well, in addition to our little holiday next week, we've got a big house move coming up this summer, and plenty of home renovation things to look forward to as well as a whole new area of London to explore. Please stick around for all of my adventures! And if there are any posts you've particularly enjoyed this Spring, now is the time to let me know! What did you like? What do you want to see more of? TELL ME ALL THE THINGS.

Feeling Blue in Wintery London

The weather in the UK has been unendingly miserable for the last few months, and London is no exception. My morning commute is dominated by a sea of unhappy faces, dead eyes focused grimly on the gum-flecked pavement ahead. Dan and I have both been working full time, and even though it's been getting slightly lighter in the mornings and evenings, it still feels like we spend all our daylight hours indoors. I guess that's the world of work, but I'm hoping that one day, I'll have a job where my hours are a bit more flexible and I can feel less like a cog in an unending... box? of cogs... Not sure where that simile was going, but you get the idea.
Still, there is beauty to be found in this gloomy, grey landscape. I've been snapping some photos on my iPhone on my way to and from work in the last few weeks and I think they give you a fairly good idea of the general mood in London at the moment!

I can't wait until it stops snowing and raining, and I can find daylight hours to take photos for this blog again. I spend a great deal of time fantasizing about the carefree summers of university, making particular usage of my keen ability to look back on things through the hazy glasses of nostalgia! It's going to be amazing when the sun comes back!! Until then, I have to make time and make an extra special effort. It's not all been doom and gloom anyway. I've met some lovely new people at work, and our wedding planning is coming along very well. Stay tuned for some wedding-related bloggage!
